In a recent speech, Obama said that some "pundits and smart people" thought the only way he could catch up in the polls this summer was to "pull a Tonya Harding on the front runner."

And, oh man, Tonya Harding has taken a few minutes from her packed bang-curling, bat-polishing schedule to let Mr. Obama know she is very irate at the reference, which received cruel, cruel laughter from the audience at the time. Harding says Obama should be focused on the war and economy - not making fun of disgraced figure skaters!

"It sounds like I'm bein' harsh, it sounds like I'm just bein' a backwood hicks girl but ya know what? That is who I am!" says Harding in the clip below, "If you like me, great. If you don't like me, that's your opinion. But I betcha you'll still pay money to come see me."

I don't want to make any wild political speculations here, but it sounds an awful lot like T. Harding is setting herself up for candidacy in the 2010 Alaska governor's election.
