Want to be an intern in the fast-paced, growing, totally-not-virtually-obsolete world of print media? Sure ya do.

My current intern expires on May 7, so I'm looking for a fresh one to start on Wednesday, May 13, and commit to being in the office for two days a week, ideally Wednesdays and Thursdays, for at least three months. I will not pay you; I will probably forget to be nice to you; I will ask you to do a lot of really tedious data entry. Plus side? There's a handle of tequila on the fridge in the break room.

Interns attend weekly editorial meetings, contribute to the web and print versions of the Mercury, and are occasionally called upon to organize margarita parties, or address city hall while wearing a corn suit. You'll likely spend your office hours (roughly 12 a week) doing data entry and writing blog posts, but there's ample opportunity to get more involved depending on your particular interests.

The ideal arts intern candidate has a healthy interest in at least one of the following areas, and preferably a couple: books, comics, theater, dance, visual art, comedy, and anything else I might be forgetting that could possibly be crammed into the catchall category of "arts." Please email me a cover letter, resume detailing relevant experience, and writing samples if you've got 'em—be sure to let me know what your specific interests are, and why you'd be great for the job. Please get me your application no later than Tuesday, April 28 (put "arts intern" in the email subject line); I'll be conducting interviews on May 7 & 8.
