Just three and a half weeks before it’s slated to open, Portland’s QDoc Festival has finally announced its 2009 lineup. And well, it was worth the wait: this year’s festival looks to be the most wide-ranging and original yet in its three year history.

Looking for a documentary chronicling 90's rock-and-rolling “Cocksucker Club” stars of queercore? Check (“Pansy Division: Life in a Gay Rock Band,” May 30). How about a look at that kooky gay underground filmmaking twin power-team, Mike and George Kuchar? Check (“It Came From Kuchar,” May 29). Fancy some basketball-fast-breakin,’ lawsuit-bringin lezzie athletes? Double check (see “Training Rules” and “Breakin’ the Glass,” May 30).

Started in 2007 by film mavens David Weissman and Russ Gage, QDoc is one of only two festivals in the world dedicated solely to documentaries chronicling the queer experience, and it always brings out the most riotously hawt assortment of smart queer boys and girls in town. The tix are freaking cheap ($6 to $8 per movie, are you kidding me??) and the opening night party is always kind of amazing, with special queer cinema glitterati guests from around the world.

The 2009 QDoc festival runs May 28 through 31 at the Clinton Street Theater. Full festival passes are $75, and the entire '09 QDocline-up is online here.
