I know it's early, but I'm calling it. From the organizer of the upcoming Moulin Rouge "Chanson-a-long":

Hello Friends at the Mercury,
It's sort of an anniversary for us!
Last year this same event started off a peculiar trend of my events causing your preview writers to threaten to kill themselves in print.
In fact my Sept.screening of
Flashdance marked the 4th time an editorial suicide threat made print!
It was a special day for all of us.
Never one to be dismayed or detoured by such theatrics
I am simply here to rub glitter in your wounds and say WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN....
This time I am extending a personal invite to any or all of you to actually attend
and if you are horrified, here's the good news.
We're only 25 blocks from the Hawthorne Food Carts where you can quickly find a greasy hipster wearing lens-less glasses singing Michael Jackson songs on the karaoke machine.

Best,
Nico Bella
Fleur De Lethal Cinematheque

What a sport. (Mercury Film Editor Erik Henriksen notes, "I'm just going to make the suicide threats more and more specific," so stayed tuned.)

Press release after the jump.

For one night only the legendary Bagdad Theater
transforms into a champagne and absinthe drenched Montmarte as
Fleur de Lethal plays host to
a chanson* and dance-a-long screening of Baz Lurhmann's 2001
musical epic starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.

As if that wasn't enough Portland's finest Circus performers have assembled
to present a titillating and tantalizing array
of talent before the film.
