- NOVICK: "THE PROGRESSIVES WIN THE PENNANT!"
The lights dimmed for the appearance of Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney, who declared the election, “the greatest vote in Oregon since she decided to be a state.”
“You have shocked the world. What you have done, each of you, those who did it over and over and over again was the most remarkable story of a human effort across the state since she truly decided she wanted to fly on her own wings,” he said.
"This campaign has been brutal," he said. "Things have been written, things have been said, and things have been done that have been indescribable. People have been disrespected, they have been hurt, and they have been maligned. When I was a little boy, my mother said to me, ‘If you want to win, you must learn how to win and you must learn how to treat those who do not win.’ The spit of a toad can never reach the top of a cathedral.”
"The desire for revenge, those feelings cannot be a part of the most incredible human effort that I know I will witness in Oregon until the day I die," he said. "Thank you for saving Oregon, my Oregon."
- KEVIN LOOPER: "BETTING AGAINST HISTORY"
"We knocked on 300,000 doors," he said. "That's the same as if one person walked to New York, and then walked all the way around the world."
They're playing "Walking On Sunshine," now.
