The Dangerous Writing workshop has organized a benefit reading/concert for one of their members, Bradley Rosen, at The Blue Monk (3341 SE Belmont) tonight, featuring some of Portland's most esteemed local writers. Rosen was felled by a virulent staph infection earlier this year and is facing months of recovery with no income. A brief summary of those reading:

Monica Drake, author of the prize winning novel Clown Girl.

Essayist and author Cheryl Strayed.

Oregon Literary Fellowship winner Emily Chenoweth, author of Hello Goodbye.

Portland author and Write Around Portland volunteer facilitator Margaret Malone.

Some guy named Tom Spanbauer.

The event costs $8 and also features performances by Closeyures, Highwater, and Nicole Berke.
