In this episode of Saturday Morning Cartoon, we celebrate the sugar-coated awesomeness of bubblegum pop! In the late '60s, cartoon companies wanted to cash in on the youth culture, without ruining the minds of our youth with anti-establishment hippie shit. Therefore, Filmation begat The Archies, while Hannah Barbera begat Josie & The Pussycats. The success of these shows led companies (like Rankin/Bass) to employ real bands with their real catalogs of music, and so, such classics as The Jackson 5 and The Osmonds were born. Here are just a few examples of these great songs in all their cartoon glory! (These are also FANTASTIC examples of groovy dance moves you should steal and break out the next time you go clubbing.)
