The 2010 Barfly Award nominees were announced late last week, but all you really need to know is that I was nominated for Most Good Writer. Okay, so maybe Erik Henriksen and Matt Davis were also nominated (along with someone named Jay Horton?). Who cares about them! It should be obvious from the outset that I am the one who deserves the Golden BarFie. Do I need to remind you of the Whiskey Issue? The exhaustive history of Portland's drunkenness through the ages? "Oceanic Orchids"? No, I thought not.

Considering winners are determined by popular vote at an invitation-only ceremony next Sunday, April 11th, at the Mt. Tabor theater, I took the liberties of starting my campaign last Saturday with a Facebook group and the following video:

As a side note: I may have extra tickets to the ceremony for a select group of "friends." Wanna go? You've got a chance if you join the Facebook group and pledge your vote to me. Simple.

So tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your bartenders, and adult entertainers... PAC4MGW! After all, has any writer done as much to keep Portland drunk (if only because that's the only way you can stand to read my column)? Hell no!
