The Portland Timbers continue their U.S. Open Cup run tonight with a second round game in Bremerton, WA against the Kitsap Pumas at 7 p.m. Alas, there is no video feed of the game though it is on the radios at 95.5 The Game. The Pumas play in the Premier Development League, one level below the Timbers, and sit in third in their Northwest Division.

Why does this match against a lower division team matter to you, dear Blogtown reader? Because the winner moves on to the third round to take on the hated Seattle Sounders. More specifically, if the Timbers win, they take on the Sounders at PGE Park on June 30. Last year's U.S. Open Cup match-up between the Timbers and the Sounders was a legendary derby with a packed house and all kinds of great play as well as off-field shenanigans.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. First thing's first: The Timbers must win and there's still time to head up to Bremerton to cheer on the boys. So take a long lunch and get going.

Oh yeah, by the time you read this, the French will have completed their complete implosion in that "other" tournament. Somewhere, Irish eyes are smiling.
