I realize that to the non-nerd there is little difference between a midnight comic book release party and this, but I think it's pretty exciting that Floating World is hosting a party to celebrate the release of Scott Pilgrim #6.

On July 19 at midnight, Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour will go on sale at Floating World—they'll also be screening episodes of the Edgar Wright-directed Spaced, which is great, and SP publisher Oni Press will have merch and prizes on hand, which is also great. (I recommend this poster, my wall has no complaints.) If you haven't read the Scott Pilgrim books, you should! Don't let the hype put you off. You'll probably like 'em.
