The Hot Dog and Competition

Perhaps you've heard: Takeru Kobayashi, a legend of competitive eating, has bowed out of the World Series of tube steak munching at Nathan's Famous on Coney Island. Kobayashi ruled the competition for six years before finally being defeated by Joey “Jaws” Chestnut in 2007. The rivalry between Kobayashi and Chestnut has been one for the ages, as the two squared off again and again behind a pile of hot dogs, each man hungry for victory.

But Kobayashi has declared himself a free agent, putting his contract with Major League Eating in question, and making him ineligible for the July 4th hot dog eating competition. Still, there will be plenty of drama on the dais as Chestnut defends his title against upstart and itinerant vegetarian Bob Shoudt.
