This could be some Mercury staffers' idea of a Worst. Night. Ever., but I think this potentially sounds like a lot of fun. Could be summer in the air, could be the fresh fruits and vegetables, could be Pickathon around the corner, but I guess I'm feeling a bit more forgivingly hippie now than at any other time of year. The Sauvie Island Center hosts their second annual barn dance this Saturday. From the press release:
Bring a picnic and a blanket, and we’ll supply the rest ……live music, beer and other beverages, dessert, farm tours and fun... Don't forget your checkbook, because we aim to inspire you about our work. Plus, we'll have a small, but special, silent auction.

RSVPs appreciated to info@sauvieislandcenter.org, or (503) 231-2757.

5:30 pm: Tour the Sauvie Island Organics farm
6-8 pm: Picnic, music, dessert, silent auction, square dancing

Music provided by Wayward Vessel with square dance calling by Jane Palmieri. Beer and other beverages, plus desserts are for sale. You just might see me there.
