Bill McCollom—Florida's AG and a GOP candidate for governor—not only supports Florida's ban on adoptions by same-sex couples, he also wants to extend the ban to prevent gays and lesbians from serving as foster parents. Here's his reasoning:

"I really do not think that we should have homosexuals guiding our children. I think that it’s a lifestyle that I don’t agree with. I realize a lot of people do. It’s my personal faith, religious faith, that I don’t believe that the people who do this should be raising our children. It’s not a natural thing. You need a mother and a father. You need a man and a woman. That’s what God intended."

We're not allowed to slam McCollom for this because, you know, he's talking about his personal, religious faith here... a personal, religious faith that McColloum would like to impose on everyone in Florida by force of law. And I think we can all agree that every child deserves a mother and a father—particularly the 20,000 kids that are in foster care in Florida right now because they were failed, neglected, abused, or abandoned by their mothers and fathers.

Florida's ban on adoptions was recently declared unconstitutional.
