... and light rail service is extended till 3 AM. See, isn't it nice when TriMet does something smart every once in a while?

(You still have to wait 30 minutes for a train, though.)

Details:

All rides on TriMet’s bus and MAX lines will be free from 8 p.m. until the end of service on New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31. TriMet will extend service on MAX Blue, Green and Yellow lines until about 3 a.m. and trains will leave the downtown area about every 30 minutes. Buses will run on regular weekday service.

MAX Blue Line: The last eastbound train will leave Hillsboro’s Hatfield Government Center Station at 2:13 a.m. The last westbound train will leave Gresham’s Cleveland Station at 2:14 a.m.

MAX Green Line: The last train from Clackamas Town Center to Portland City Center will leave at 2:08 a.m.

MAX Yellow Line: The last train to Portland City Center will leave the Expo Center at 2:11 a.m.

MAX Red Line: Trains will run on regular weekday schedules. When the Red Line service ends, a shuttle bus will provide rides between Gateway Transit Center and the airport every 15-30 minutes until 3 a.m.

Don't drink and drive, y'all. I took the 75 after midnight last New Years and it was definitely more hilarious than any party you could possibly plan. The couple right next to me broke up during the ride while the couple behind them did not even come up for air from their city-wide make out sess. Hilarrrrious.
