Monograph Bookwerks (5005 NE 27th Ave at Alberta) is holding a Publication Party for Art Criticism and Other Short Stories, a collection compiled by Helen Reed, described as "Fan fiction for contemporary art allows for inhabitations of imagined landscapes, speculative relationships with art objects, and dream encounters with artists." The reading is from 7 - 9pm.

On the Southeast side at Work/Sound (820 SE Alder), the Bad Blood poetry reading opens its doors at 7 with readings at 8 - 10pm. This month features Joshua Beckman from Seattle, author of Take It and editor/translator for Wave Books, Anthony McCann from Los Angeles, and Jamalieh Haley from Portland who co-curates the If Not for Kidnap reading series.

Oh, and last night's reading by Jim Shepard was awesome. Broadway Books provides a very cozy setting for a reading and the Q&A felt more like a graduate seminar than an awkward grilling of an author by strangers. The resulting discussion was a million times more interesting than my interview from yesterday, and you can catch it on Broadway Books's YouTube channel, though it won't be posted til this weekend.
