David Yates and Steve Kloves Take On Stephen King's The Stand

If this adaptation doesn't kick off with "Don't Fear the Reaper" playing over a panorama of dead lab workers, I will demand my money back.
Seriously, this is one of the best opening sequences ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z04Co46-Faw…

Before the mostly terrible ensemble cast comes in and craps all over most of the film.
F U Zed. Now I'm not going to get anything done 'cause I gotta watch The Stand again. *shakes fist*
In my memory The Stand has the dubious honor of being one of the few books that I've ever put down without finishing. When I was in middle school I liked 'Salem's Lot and The Eyes of the Dragon well enough, but over three hundred pages into The Stand I got sick of the simplistic manichaen worldview and general slowness.

I keep telling myself I'll come back to King as an adult, and give him another shot. Young me really hated that book. Maybe adult me would find something to like.
Happy crappy!!!!
M O O N, that spells Laura San Giacomo better be in this freaking remake.
No one ever needed an editor more than Stephen King.
What the world REALLY needs is a remake of "Maximum Overdrive," am I right?
Zed: You're not wrong there.
@Zed, atomic: Robopocalypse is basically Maximum Overdrive taken to its logical/ludicrous conclusion.

I think the Dark Tower series would be a much better target for these guys. Lots more magic and creatures in that one. It'd be a better fit for them, and might translate to the screen better.
