Not only is Timbers midfielder Sal Zizzo quick on the pitch, he's swift to adapt off it.

The San Diego native, bike commuter and recycled-clothing model told his Twitter followers Friday that he'd be taking the next step in his Portland immersion: He's opening a food cart.

Zizzo's FC (as in Food Cart, not Football Club) isn't serving up "authentic Italian" just yet, but Zizzo's offering does boast a fledgling web site, FB page and Twitter handle, and has already taken reservations from Portland owner Merritt Paulson.

What once housed Loco Loco Burritos has now been re-painted to resemble the Italian national team jersey and a menu is coming soon. I, for one, am hoping it'll include some dishes named after teammates. Imagine a light appetizer of Eric Brunnerchetta, followed by a bountiful plate of James Marcelinguini and Loveal Palmersan. And for dessert: Futty Tiramadanso. I'll stop now.

The Timbers are off this weekend as International sides square off. Portland's final home match is set for Oct. 14 against Wild Card rival Houston.
