It's been a while since there was any news about the Battlestar Galactica spinoff Blood & Chrome, which was supposed to be a web series, and then got promoted to being a real series, then maybe got bumped back down to a web series, and then I don't know? But according to AICN, this trailer—which more or less directly riffs/rips off of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailer—played at WonderCon this past weekend, so I guess Blood & Chrome still exists!

[HERE'S WHERE THE VIDEO USED TO BE. Looks like NBC/Universal/Syfy has pulled it, which is weird considering there were a few things about the video that made it look like an officially unofficial official "leak." Eh, I'm sure they'll come up with something else soon enough, and maybe they'll be a bit more original next time around. All you really need to know was that it featured a ton of explosions and spaceships and a little twerp they're trying to convince us is a young Edward James Olmos. Oh and something that looked like an alien snake or something.]

SPACE SNAKE!

Battlestar's one of my favorite shows, so I'm a bit predisposed toward optimism here. Especially since the stuff Battlestar did right—namely, everything having to do with the military, the war, and a bunch of unhappy people locked in a metal box with no way to get out—would seem to be the focus here, as opposed to goofy Cylon backstory and Bob Dylan prophecies. But because I am me, however, I will gripe about one thing, which is that L'il Adama appears to be, like, nine. One of the reasons I liked Battlestar was because half the people on it were older than dirt and had thus given up on life, love, or ever finding happiness; if Blood & Chrome skews too young, it might lose the hard-edged pragmatism that made Battlestar unique in the first place.

Alternately, maybe it will be like The O.C. in space! With space snakes! Which I would probably be okay with too, I guess! Maybe I shouldn't have written that last sentence. Whatever, The O.C. was great. I have to go now.
