Q: What do you get when you take a handful of Portland comics, a bowl of spicy peppers and (I'm just spitballing here) more than a few bowls of weed?

A: The Spicy News!

Let's not mince words here: The Spicy News is really fucking stupid. But it's also weirdly compelling.

In a nutshell, the premise is this: Local comic tells jokes about the week's entertainment news. BUT — right before they start? They eat a hot pepper.

The jokes are hit-or-miss, but what makes the show both excruciating to sit through and absolutely impossible to turn away from is watching local comics try to power their way through their jokes with their mouths, throats and faces on fire.

And after they're done, the camera stays on. The comic dives into a tub of ice cream, tries desperately to kill the pain, and delivers the funniest, unscripted lines of the show.

They've done 8 episodes so far, and add a new one each week. Local favorites Ian Karmel, Sean Jordan, Jen Allen and Shane Torres have all played — who'll be next?
