I just got a press release announcing that Riverhead Books has acquired the rights to an upcoming memoir from Carrie Brownstein. It'll be a "memoir of her life in music, from ardent fan to pioneering female guitarist to comedic performer and luminary of the independent rock world."

Right, because remember? Before we all turned on her because we can't figure out how Portlandia makes us feel about ourselves, she was a guitarist in one of the best bands ever to come out of Portland? (Wild Flag isn't too shabby, either.)

God, I loved that band. I still get excited when I see Corin Tucker at the coffee shop. Brownstein is a fine writer who's had bylines at NPR and Slate, among other outlets, and Oregon authors have turned out some great memoirs in recent years: Cheryl Strayed's Wild, Kevin Sampsell's A Common Pornography, and Sarahlee Lawrence's River House all come to mind. What I'm trying to say is, I approve. STAMP STAMP.
