What's up, beautiful spring day? I wanna make a DIY publication 'boutchu! Where am I gonna do that? Probably at Portland's Independent Publishing Resource Center because the IPRC is open at it's new location!
Last month the IPRC announced they were moving from their collection of tiny offices at SW 10th & Oak to a huge space in industrial Southeast. While they won’t be having their huge big fun "We're Open" party until May 11th, they’re in the midst of a soft open right now for peeps to Xerox their dreams in the new spot.
I stopped by and eyeballed the new layout for you folks. Click through because I made a map.

Right now the center exists in a state of soft open. Go on in and get used to it. The hours are the same, the computers are plugged in but volunteers are still working on it.

- IPRC volunteer and frequent class instructor BT Livermore completed a mural to pump the pioneering vibe.
The new location contains double the lead type of the old location, a screen printing area (complete with resplendent double-wide work sink with a high pressure sprayer), an even more enormous zine library, book binding area, work area, gallery space and an accessible rooftop!
When I cloyingly asked director, Justin Hocking, if I could go on the roof he was like, "Oh yeah, sure. It's over there."
It's not even illicit! You can just go up there!
The space’s industrial door will soon be redone with clear, see-through plastic to bring butterflies and love into the warehouse's more warehouse-y corners.

The new space is located at 1001 SE Division, directly off the #4 and #70 bus lines. Things sure are looking up for a nerdy spring and the beauty of DIY publishing.
