I feel like this season of the Rose City Rollers' home-team roller derby madness just started, and look, here we are butting up against Semi-Finals this weekend. As the oldsters say, where does the time go? Friday is the first bout of Semi-Finals, with the undefeated roller girls of the High Rollers knocking crash pads with the Heartless Heathers, who've had a tough slog of it this season, ranking last. Hell-on-wheels Goodie Two Skates recently stepped off the Heathers and Scratcher in the Eye returned to the fold, but do the ice queens have enough fight in their shiny britches to pull off a win to earn themselves a chance to play for first place at the Championships? High Rollers vs. Heartless Heathers, Fri May 4, The Hangar at Oaks Park, 8 pm, $14-20

Saturday's game should be a real nail-biter to see who will get a chance to play for first at Champs on June 2: last year's champs the Break Neck Betties or the Gun N Rollers. That's a pretty snazzy match-up with two of the league's best jammers—SoulFearic Acid on the Betties and Scald Eagle on GNR—facing off for a pivotal game. Don't want to miss that one. Break Neck Betties vs. Guns N Rollers, Sat May 5, The Hangar at Oaks Park, 6 pm, $14-20

Sunday, the Death Scar Derby Dolls are taking on the Undead Avengers—two of the Rose City Roller's junior league home teams. I can't say this enough: The gals on the Rosebuds are SUPER FUN to watch—they're fast, smart, and very competitive. Plus, they have a blast on the track. Check 'em out!
