You know what they say: April showers bring May power jams. I'm sure someone says that somewhere in Roller Derby Land. This weekend sees a HUGE game for the Rose City Rollers—who are ranked #3 in the western region. Our gals on the all-star Wheels of Justice are hot-shit skaters, riding the high of a last-minute (literally) win against Chicago's Windy City last month. But Saturday will be a a tough-as-nails game when they square off against the A-team from the #4-ranked Denver Roller Dolls, the Mile High Club. Like a capuchin monkey on skates, Denver's climbing the rankings tree and feeling no pain after a resounding win over the Bay Area in April. If you want to see some primo roller derby, this game oughta be a real edge-of-the-seater. Plus, I hear there will be at least one dog dressed as a pegacorn, making for a trifecta of fun with adorableness, hard hits, and beer.
