Princess Leia FTW.

This Saturday was the first time I'd ever been to the Starlight Parade and I have to admit that standing in the cold on a downtown street corner for two hours was more fun than I thought it would be. The thing I liked about the Starlight Parade is it has no point or main theme. Unlike, for example, Fourth of July parades. What is the Starlight Parade celebrating? Glowsticks? Glowsticks and Portland? It seemed like the thinking behind most floats was along the lines of, "Hey! We've got some Christmas lights, some senior citizens, a golf carts, and a full-body unitard. Let's do this thing!" A parade is more fun when the next float is equally likely to be a marching band, a fleet of hearses, or a Star Wars squadron.
