I know Alison already mentioned this in It's Happening Tonight, but this is super duper important. My second favoritest movie of all time, Dead Alive, is playing tonight! It's part of the NW Film Center's rooftop series, where you can cool down on a roof, reveling in the congealed gore and innards of the bloodiest (and funniest, I posit) horror movie of all time. This 1992 Peter Jackson joint is the third movie the Middle-Earth-lovin' director shot, right after 1989's Meet the Feebles, the only movie that has made me seriously, deeply uncomfortable. If you haven't seen the amazing, splattered Dead Alive, I suggest you get yourself to the Hotel deLuxe's parking garage (SW 15th & Yamhill, tonight, 8 pm, $9) for a gander at the movie that includes such Kiwi-accented quotes as:

"Lionel, despite being deprived of his father at an early age, was blessed with an abundance of motherlove."

"Your mother ate my dog!"

"That's my mother you're pissing on."

"Story goes, these great big rats come scuttling off the slave ships and raped all the little tree monkeys. The natives use them in black magic rituals. Don't ask me how, probably suck the blood of virgins, eh, eh?"

The apex of delight:
