Because ACTION!

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, 1991, currently available on Netflix Instant. I cannot describe this film. Just get some beers and some friends and JESUS CHRIST, RICKY-OH! Post-script: Pretty sure this isn't an official trailer. Doesn't matter. Maybe don't watch it if you're a squeamish baby.

Haywire, 2011, currently available on Netflix Instant. I flat-out loved Steven Soderbergh's movie starring the beautiful-but-deadly Gina Carano, who is literally beautiful but deadly. A lot of people didn't like it as much as I did. If you ask them why, though (WHICH I HAVE), their "reasons" are always terrible and stupid. As usual, all of them are wrong and I am right. Here are the first five minutes, starring the beautiful-but-deadly Gina Carano and special guest star Chatum!

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 2010, playing in 35mm this weekend at Vancouver's Kiggins Theatre. Edgar Wright's excellent comic book flick didn't get nearly enough love when it came out in theaters—if you've seen it, you'll want to see it again, and if you haven't seen it, FIX THAT. This thing screens occasionally at places like Quentin Tarantino's New Beverly in Los Angeles, but anywhere near Portland? Forget about it. Plays Friday-Sunday at 10 pm, and the Kiggins is right across the river (1011 Main, Vancouver).
