Among Others Wins Hugo for Best Novel
The 2012 Hugo Awards ceremony—recognizing the best of the year's science fiction offerings—was held in Chicago on Sunday night, and Jo Walton took home the award for best novel for her brilliant memoir-disguised-as-fantasy novel Among Others
. I've been forcing this book on people for a while now
, and I saw Walton read from it earlier this year: She was gregarious and kind, and took the time to chat with every person who got their book signed. I'm really glad she won.
Other notable winners: Game of Thrones won for best long-form dramatic presentation; Neil Gaiman accepted an award for his Doctor Who episode "The Doctor's Wife," which won best short-form dramatic presentation, and announced in his speech that he'll be writing another episode. (I'm still lukewarm on that episode. Unlike the new one, which was great. EGGS.) See the full list of winners here.
