For some reason "The Christmas Shoes" isn't on here. It's got its own Lifetime movie (for women!): that's not something any of those others can say.

The Pretenders' "2000 Miles" often comes up this time of year, despite having nothing to do with Christmas outside of mentioning the word in the song.

@RB, yeah, that "song" took over as my most hated Christmas Song a few years ago, although it has a silver lining in that the animated video of Patton Oswalt's takedown of the song exists because of it.

Forbes says Paul has made about $15 million dollars from Wonderful Christmastime so far.

Bob Dylan put out a x-mas album a few years back -- amazing how the man can put out tripe like that sandwiched between gems like 'Modern Times' and 'Tempest'...

his 'Here comes Santa Claus' is just embarrassing.

"Do they know it's christmas" is fucking offensive.

also, that Lennon/Ono video should be MANDATORY viewing for everyone -- heart-breaking stuff.

(and the song is just fine, Steve.)

I wouldn't have known about that song if Patton hadn't done that bit about it. It also introduced me to the larger world of terrible story songs -usually country songs- that exist. Like Bill Mack's "A Child's Letter from Heaven," and the just-plain-unforgivable "An Aborted Child's Letter from Heaven." Grief porn!

Who would have expected Wham to know better?

I'm just now noticing that "who should know better" proviso. "The Christmas Shoes" is definitely not one of those.

"Do They Know It's Christmas?" should be tossed for being inadequately about Christmas, among many other things.

That McCartney song has always made me want to slap a walrus.

^^ I am the Eggman!

We're forgetting "Please Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas" sung by John Denver.

Until you brought it up, I had no idea that existed. Thank you.
