New Portland music for a Monday! Let's jump right in.
Y La Bamba's Oh February comes out digitally tomorrow via Tender Loving Empire. Here's the title track from the new EP, which reunites them with producer Chris Funk, who worked with the band on their album Lupon. Y La Bamba is hitting the road for a quick East Coast tour with the Lumineers.
Y La Bamba - "Oh February"
Tracks from Lost Lander, STRFKR, Aan, and Paper/Upper/Cuts after the jump!
Lost Lander have a new song, too, sort of. From their Facebook page: "You know how sometimes you record a bunch of songs with Brent Knopf and John Askew and there's just this one pesky song that just won't fit in with the others? Well, that happened to us to and it was called 'Until You Die.' We left it off DRRT but want to release it now so we can work on all of our NEW songs in good conscience." You can download it for free over at Bandcamp.
There's also more new music from STRFKR's great upcoming album, two fine tracks from the much-anticipated Miracle Miles, which comes out on Polyvinyl on February 19. The subdued "Say to You" is available for download over on Twitmusic, and "Atlantis" sounds nothing like the Donovan song—it's closer to a day-glo version of Dirty Mind-era Prince.
Aan have a new single coming out next week, and here's the A-side "Mystery Life." It comes out February 5 on Cool Summer Records, and it's over on their Bandcamp page now as well. You can also stream the B-side "Spiritual Provisions," plus a new version of "Wet and Dripping," which originally appeared on their 2010 EP I Could Be Girl for You. It's likely that some or all of these tracks will appear on Aan's upcoming full-length, which will hopefully be out soon.
Tomorrow is the release date of the new full-length from Paper/Upper/Cuts, AKA Papi Fimbres. He's giving it away for free on Bandcamp, but here's the preview track. To celebrate the release of the album, Papi is hosting a house show this week—and if you are inclined you can probably find some place to find out the where and whens.
