Tonight from 6-10 pm, Milwaukie Kitchen & Wine will be celebrating their proprietor's outrageously funny win in a national hottest-chef competition. Pascal Sauton, French by birth but longtime Portland chef formerly of Brasserie Montmartre and now shuttered-Carafe, threw his hat in the ring for Eater National's contest last month as a joke, to break the tension brought on by an industry outcry against contests in its vein, and beat out chefs across the country for a landslide win. Here's his winning photo:

So this is one of the most awesome things that has ever happened, basically, and restores my faith in our nation's sense of humor. Sauton invites everyone to celebrate the win with him at his current restaurant with beer, wine, hot dogs, and PBR-cheese soup, a $20 ticket price for which will benefit Northwest Housing Alternatives, "a fantastic non-profit association here in Clackamas Co. which provides housing and services to many families in need across the state." Advance tickets available here (they're capping admission at 200 guests). Should be a great party... don't forget your Camel Lights!
Milwaukie Kitchen & Wine is located at 10610 SE Main (Milwaukie, OR 97222).
