I have no doubt we'll soon be privy to more details than we could ever want about their captivity, but the whole story—and particularly that Berry has a six-year-old daughter—brings to mind Emma Donoghue's brilliant 2010 novel Room, about a woman who gives birth to a son while held hostage in a small storage unit, and does her best to raise a healthy, happy kid in the direst of circumstances. It's a powerful, complicated, triumphant story—just like today's news.
