I don't exactly know how to do it. But I was in Vancouver, BC, last weekend, and I saw an incredibly fun comedy show called Rapp Battlez Wezt Coazt, and, well, WE'RE on the West Coast, and so I feel like we should battle. Yes?

As best as I can tell, the borderline un-Googleable comedy show Rapp Battlez originated in Toronto and has since expanded to Vancouver; accurately billed as an "appropriated hip-hop comedy show," it's a series of rap battles between comedians, in character and in costume, in such formulations as "Yeezus vs. Jesus," "Oedipus Rex Vs. T-Rex" "Driving Miss Daisy vs. The Fast and the Furious," and "Bob Ross vs. The Guy From The Painting 'The Scream.'"

I was pretty skeptical going into the Vancouver show—weird comedy formats make me nervous, and I was only familiar with one name on the bill, Stop Podcasting Yourself's Graham Clark. But like an art critic at a Jay-Z gallery show, I had my expectations totally overturned: The show is fast, silly, and a ton of fun, and it would absolutely kill at Bridgetown. I really hope it makes it down to Portland sometime; I'd love to see local comics get in on the action. Here's a video, which totally fails to do the live performance justice (because there is a reason live performance exists!), but does include some deeply creepy jokes from a woman dressed as Powder, so there's that.
