On the very, very off chance you missed my twitter play-by-play, something like 25 riot-gear-clad cops made four arrests at Mount Tabor Park last night, after the bulk of Camp Cascadia protestors opted to step outside the park rather than be charged with trespassing. Cops say one of those arrested, 21-year-old Jonilka Calcano, had been reported a missing person in Rhode Island.

Los Angeles on Monday wasn't done expressing outrage for George Zimmerman's acquittal. Police say about 150 people broke off from a planned prayer rally there last night and began "breaking store windows, and stopping traffic and attacking passing cars and pedestrians late Monday night."

A juror in the Zimmerman trial announced Monday she'd landed a literary agent and planned to write a tell-all book. People were outraged, of course, and the agent pulled out of the deal.

The Justice Department is still deciding whether it will take action in the Zimmerman case.

President Obama in his second term has adopted the low-key "hidden hand" style of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the New York Times says. There's a snarky comment about NSA surveillance that should go here, but I was out on Tabor way too late last night.

The US Senate has apparently reached a game-changing deal that would change filibuster rules for presidential appointees.

Edward Snowden has formally applied for asylum in Russia—at least until he can gain passage to one of the Latin American countries that say they'll take him in."Such a present to us," says Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Merry Christmas."

Mexican authorities have captured the leader of the vicious Zetas drug cartel, a welcome development, but one that's expected to set off a wave of violence.

This is my favorite story lead in a while: "Doctors are looking into the mystery of a Florida man who awoke speaking only Swedish, with no memory of his past, after he was found unconscious four months ago at a Southern California motel."

An Indiana doctor, fired from Creighton University in 2001 for erratic behavior, is now suspected of killing four people—including an 11-year-old boy—in two retaliatory attacks over the last five years.

Gonna be a hot one:

Now if you'll excuse me, I have places to be.
