TAY-TAY SWIFT Hi, guys.
  • TAY-TAY SWIFT "Hi, guys."
Another week, another Mercury music section that doesn't contain any words about Miley Cyrus, except for those two that I just typed. We swear.

This Friday, you have a choice between several lady guitarist/songwriters. There's Heart with Ann and Nancy Wilson at Sleep Country Amphitheater, the Breeders with Kim and Kelley Deal at the Wonder, an Allman Brothers Tribute at the Doug Fir with Anita Lee Elliott playing all the Duane Allman parts, and... Taylor Swift at the Rose Garden Moda Center. Our esteemed Editor-in-Chief Wm.™ Steven Humphrey took a break from his one-man Taylor Swift puppet show to propose the argument that Tay-tay is a better lyricist than Sir Paul McCartney.

Speaking of Heart, the Wilson sisters rock. And they've been doing it better and longer than just about anybody else out there. Respect.
• • •
Respect, too, to the one and only Gary Numan, who might have been tagged with one-hit wonder status by ignoramuses, but actually boasts a lengthy and rewarding catalog of terrific, pioneering music.
• • •
The Zombies' catalog didn't quite extend as long as Numan's, but what they left behind was perfect. Especially Odessey & Oracle, which has got to be the greatest album ever with a glaring typo in the title. (Better luck next time, T.I.'s Trap Muzik.) The Zombs are no mere oldies retread either; I saw the reformed band at Berbati's Pan a few years ago, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Plus a bunch of Up & Coming shows to fill your week (and heart!).
