Foodies are wandering off the mountain in post-Wild About Game foie gras comas, and dance cards are being quickly filled thanks to Feast, but in between all that is something to keep you busy: perfecting your bagel technique. Nick Zukin and Michael C. Zusman are launching their latest cookbook, The Artisan Jewish Deli at Home this evening from 5:30-8 pm at Portland Penny Diner, including samples made from recipes in the book and latkes with smoked salmon and sour cream made by Vitaly Paley (YUM). And while the book does indeed include a chapter on "Bagels, Bialys and Breads," it appears to be quite comprehensive, with recipes for everything from knishes to chicken schmaltz to pastrami sandwiches.
