Wordstock announced their 2013 author lineup last week: AM Homes, Alyssa Nutting, Rick Moody, Jane Smiley, Nicholson Baker, Francesca Lia Block (!! protip, don't ever try to reread her books as an adult), TC Boyle... and of course, stellar locals like Cheryl Strayed, Craig Thompson, Monica Drake, and my always-and-forever favorite Portland author, Tom Spanbauer. The whole list is right over here.

This year's festival also features the Lit-Crawl inspired "LitHopPDX" on Wednesday, Oct 2, organized by Portland author/publisher Kevin Sampsell. Situated at the east end of Hawthorne a la Bridgetown, it's a three-hour marathon bar/readings crawl, where six venues will host more than 50 readers, each of whom will take the mic for 15 minutes. Each venue is booked by a publisher or reading series: Bad Blood, If Not For Kidnap, Nows Ours, Sister Spit, Tin House, and YesYes Books. Sampsell is planning to make this a regular event, with another LitHop planned for spring.

The Wordstock festival runs Oct 3-6, with a book fair Oct 5-6 at the Oregon Convention Center.
