For some reason, movie publicists never want to use my insightful film-related tweets in their ads, but they do want to use A.O. Scott's, which... okay. That actually makes a ton of sense. Like over the weekend, for example, when Scott's great tweet about the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack (and how a ton of annoying people are currently whining about The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle) got turned into an ad in the Times.


Except when Llewyn Davis' publicist asked Scott if they could use that tweet, he said no. And then they used it anyway. And cut out the funny part. Margaret Sullivan, the Times' public editor, has a great story about the specifics and the ethics of the whole thing, and you should read it.
