Some exciting news for you comedy fans out there. Kill Rock Stars is announcing today that they will be releasing the
first second album by L.A.-based standup Cameron Esposito and will be bringing her to town to record it on May 30th at Mississippi Studios.
If you are unfamiliar with the work of this whip smart, side-mullet sporting comic, let’s get you up to speed. Or get a taste of her standup prowess with her network TV debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, where she charmed the denim off of Jay Leno. This news is also another step by the venerable label Kill Rock Stars away from the picked-apart landscape of indie rock and into the more fertile ground of comedy. Last year, they released Kurt Braunohler’s amazing standup album How Do I Land? (which can still be ordered in a bundle with an engraved glass double-headed dildo), and are gearing up to unleash an LP from Brooklyn-based comic Hari Kondabolu. And I've heard rumors of some more high-profile comedy talent soon to fall under their umbrella as well. Now if we could just get them to focus some of that attention on our local comedy scene....
