Over on MOD we've been noticing a recent uptick in local designers who are making an effort to cater to plus sizes—more specifically MOD contributor/party maker/DJ/nightlife queen Coco Madrid has documented (and occasionally modeled for) the efforts of Clair Vintage Inspired, Hubris Apparel, Mag-Big, and more as they increasingly make it easier for fuller figured women to participate in the shop-local economy/culture. (Sure, anyone can commission custom sizing in local clothing but for the vast majority of people that's too expensive to be a daily option.) Plus models also keep popping up on local runways too, most notably at the recent Unmentionable lingerie show. Seizing on the moment, Madrid has confirmed she's producing a fashion show featuring these designs, called Summer Strut, on Saturday, July 12 at the White Owl.
