As as a classy lady, who likes to get drunk, in a town that loves to get drunk, and as the Merc's (relatively) new food editor, I think it's incumbent upon me to start a (mostly) weekly feature about where I'd like to get drunk.

Up this week: The Northwest CIder Association Cider Rite of Spring, this Saturday, April 26, from noon to 5 pm at the Tiffany Emerald Ball Room, 1410 SW Morrison Street. PS: Did not know there was a Northwest Cider Association. But of course there is, and I support the idea.

I'd really like to get apple-tipsy sampling more than 60 different craft ciders from makers across the Pacific Northwest. Locally, Reverend Nat's Cider, the Portland Cider Company, Cider Riot!, Bull Run Cider and others are representing. Non-alcoholic drinks and food are also around, in case you have the self-control to pace yourself and avoid one of the world's worst sugar-induced booze hangovers.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, with a tasting glass and tickets part of the deal.

No word on if they're handing drunks bows, arrows and apples at the door though. (But a classy lady can hope!)
