Usually I only draw attention to lookbook showcasing the local talents of apparel or accessories designers, photographers, models, and stylists—and I'm about to do that behind the cut. But first, I have to show you this:

What are we looking at here? Well:

Loveleather, from New York, is a brand that has gained lots of momentum recently thanks to fans like Rihanna and Beyonce, for their unique take on leather clothing. Each piece is 100% lamb leather and [is] laser-cut to create a movable and soft "mesh" fabrication out of the leather. Recently the brand required the license to make authentic NBA apparel, thus the PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS Leather Tank was born!

It's now available at West End Select Shop, and why no it is not cheap. It's $525, which either sounds reasonable or absurd depending on where you shop, but not cheap. For some people, however, this is sort of necessary. If you are, or are in close relationship proximity to one of these individuals, I apologize in advance to your financial planner.

And now for something more practical: Bridge + Burn and OMFGCO have collaborated on a limited edition work apron in "13 oz denim with a 100% linen liner, contrasting red bar tack stitching and YKK zippers." To showcase it, they tapped some locals working in a variety of messy mediums: Woodblock Chocolate, Maak Lab, and
ceramicist Alexandria Cummings.

Check out all the shots on chocolate-making, soap-carving, pottery-throwing models. At 60 bucks it's a solid investment, especially if it spares your favorite $500 leather mesh tank.

Jason Calderon has had a presence on the local apparel design scene for years—if you check out events like Alley 33 or Portland Fashion Week there's a good chance you've seen his work, which up to now has been limited to womenswear. I wasn't in town for this year's PFW, where these pieces first appeared, but after a gander at this lookbook for his line, West Daily, I sure hope the addition of pieces for women are a permanent addition. As he describes it:

West Daily is inspired by the West Coast, is made in the USA (mostly in Oregon), and features sustainable & ethically sourced materials. Our new collection will hit stores beginning in July for the FW15 season. It's a men's and women's capsule collection with a focus on Merino wool and technical twills.
