On Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m., Oregon economists will gather at the Portland State University Park Blocks in front of the Smith Memorial Student Union building to discuss their support for in increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour, according to a news release from Justin Norton-Kertson with 15NowPDX.

Last month, when Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders announced his support for and the introduction of a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2020, adding fuel to the Fight for $15, which has already gained tremendous traction and support over the past two years, with recent victories in three of the country’s largest cities, and a new statewide $15 minimum wage for fast food workers in New York.

A poll from December 2014 showed that 63 percent of Americans support a $15 minimum wage by 2020.
