  • 36 HOURS: "Portland... you are impossibly quirky!"

As Shelby mentioned earlier, once again the New York Times writes up Portlandโ€”this time in their regular feature "36 Hours" in which the writer impossibly visits a poop ton of locales and suggests you should (impossibly) do the same. SERIOUSLY, there's no freaking way you could do all these things in a month, much less 36 hours... it takes 42 hours of standing in line for brunch at the Screen Door! Anyway, if you're new to town, it's an okay primer to some of Portland's greatest hits, and it's not embarrassing. Check it out here.

HOWEVER! Here's something that is DEFINITELY EMBARRASSING. There's also a TV version of the NYT's "36 Hours" column aptly called 36 Hours, (hosted by chef Kristen Kish and "former pro athlete" Kyle Martino) and it will be debuting an episode called "Quirky Portland" (UGHHH!!!) on the Travel Channel, this coming Monday, Sept 14 at 8 pm. Here's the quirky episode description:

Kristen and Kyle travel to the weird, wild and wacky city of Portland. The pair gets down and dirty as they dig for clams with a local top chef, share beers with a bestselling author, and hit a Tikki bar with a rock star.

FIVE BUCKS SAYS THE "ROCK STAR" IS ART ALEXAKIS!
