In this week's Sold Out column, I wrote about the emergence of Wildwood & Company, a custom suit-making outfit turned retail hub for high-quality handcrafted luxury items. It's one of the more in-character manifestations of Portland's economic boom, and the physical build out—which includes a wood-paneled lounge (replete with oriental rugs, a leather Chesterfield, paintings of hounds, and a wall of Scotch) and a former alley transformed into a brick-and-window-walled workroom with ceilings as high as the sky—is an experience of itself.
