Help Wanted: Arts Calendar Editor

We are looking for an energetic, hardworking, detail-oriented self-starter to maintain the Portland Mercury’s arts and entertainment calendars. Candidates should have a deep love for Portland’s entertainment scene—from music to comedy and theater—and should also have a desire to motivate our readers to get out and experience our city. This is primarily a data entry position with some writing involved.

Responsibilities:
• Enter an average of 50 events into the Mercury’s content management system each day
• Write engaging copy for calendar listings
• Contribute to the calendar’s social media accounts
• Collaborate with Regional Calendar Director
• Build and maintain relationships with local event producers
• Consistently attempt to improve upon the calendar user’s experience

Skills and Experience
• Strong writing skills
• Data entry experience
• Excellent attention to detail and organization
• Proactive, solution-oriented, self-motivated
• Team player
• Thrives in a deadline-driven environment, always rises to the challenge
• Basic HTML and CSS knowledge
• Experience with Facebook, Twitter, and email marketing services preferred

This is a full time, on-site position that reports to the Regional Calendar Director.
