I Am so Fucking Sick of the Homeless

Go ahead and give one a good solid kick to the ass. Then you can get arrested, lose your job, become homeless, and the next Mr. Macho can give you a good solid kick to the ass, and so on, and so on, and so on.
2
Dear douchebag (I/A),

On behalf of those less fortunate than you, go F yourself.
3
Drinking out of fountains??? You got to be kidding me. What kind of a sick fuck does this?

Pics or it didn't happen......

If you can't deal with the homeless, you shouldn't be in an urban area. Some of what you say makes sense, but it's buried under so much disgust and fear that you just sound like a Reagan-era yuppie.

The homeless are highly unlikely to disappear overnight in the way you want. Also, my guess is that you're not interested in being politically involved to change the situation. You are far better off changing your attitude. When solicited, just say "sorry man" and move on.
5
" You can pretty comfortably live here on the streets."

Really? Especially in sub zero temperatures, ice storms or the pouring rain?

Cool. How about YOU go fucking live on the streets and we'll fucking see how comfortable it is, you fucking ass-hat.
6
If karma is a real thing, get super excited for your next life in which your parents beat you every night beginning at age 4, never take you to school so at age 17 you have the literacy rate of a first grader, and then kick you out of the house when they find out that you're gay, after which you get thrown in jail for prostituting yourself since you can't find a job (I hear having a street address, a high school education, and a familiarity with adults who aren't assaulting you helps with getting hired?). Although you do have a point about only throwing those without 'genuine problems' to the wolves-- people who have been through hell and back generally tattoo it on their foreheads, after all.

P.S. I've got a garbage bag full of dirty clothes, a ripped sleeping bag, and a starving dog with your name written all over it if you ever want to try "pretty comfortably living on the streets" yourself. You can even stand in a pretty comfortable line for a pretty warm breakfast and a pretty cool shower after getting pretty comfortably jumped and robbed while sleeping under a pretty comfortable bridge and everything!

What the previous commenters said.
8
Obvious troll is obvious.
9
I live on the streets and I can't stand most of those dirty dumbshits, either.
10
Portland is way past due for a 9.2. It will all be over soon enough. Goodbye, PSU.
11
Sub Zero, in Portland? Really? Sub freezing, even rarely. However when the temperature plummets to the Heineken serving temperature of 45 degrees in San Francisco, the TV news covers the story of the van that goes around to scoop up all the homeless off the street to force them into shelters.
12
broke liberals who pay no taxes demand the people who do pay taxes continue to fund these pieces of shit so that said broke liberals can feel like they're "caring people". yay?
13
Thought: Maybe the reason why you see so many homeless out on the streets is because there are no mental clinics or homeless shelters that aren't over capacity to take them in?
Thank you privlidged asshats for voting down them every time it comes up for election, and refusing to fund programs that actually... you know... gets homeless people off the street.

But hey, if you actually were sick of homeless people, you'd vote in your own self-interest, right? But as we all can see, what you are interested in is your masturbatory self-righteousness. Gotta prove ourselves to be the Big Kid over them durn dirty hobos, right?
14
What a lazy generalization, arenit. Saying all liberals are broke is like saying all conservatives are homophobes. Most liberals are well educated people with above average incomes.
15
So how about all these wealthy liberals pick up the homeless bill then? Oh, right, because talk is cheap and appearing sensitive and compassionate online is about as far as your generosity extends.
16
The nut houses were abusive rat holes. Ronald Reagan shut them all down. The fact is that neither the Communist Progressives, nor the Fascist Neocons donate enough to charity to adequately enable the poor to gain enough of a small advantage to be able to act on the slightest of opportunity. If you don't care enough to support the blacksheep in your own family, then government will seize the opportunity to propagandize the situation in order to advance the Socialist Agenda as veneer for Totalitarianism.
17
Actually, PSU is a pretty good place to be when The Big One hits. The old buildings have been seismically reinforced, it's not a liquefaction zone, not a landslide zone, etc. per this map: http://www.portlandoregon.gov/pbem/article…

UP and OHSU, however... good luck to them!
18
Ever hear of the West Hills Fault?
19
You sound like a less succinct version of my Grandmother. She just won't go downtown because of "the beggars." Because in her mind this is Victorian England.

Portland State University sits dead center of the Portland Hills Fault:

Dr Wim Wiewel, president of PSU is supposedly an expert in urban planning, but the way he just keeps confiscating land, constructing new buildings, and enticing more students to enroll at PSU, one certainly must suspect some ulterior, genocidal, motive?

Perhaps it could be merely a simple matter of greed; or is he just following orders?

The Portland Hills Fault runs from the northern edge of Forest Park, goes along the foot of Portland's West Hills and beneath Portland State University, crosses the Willamette River and heads southeast to Milwaukie.

Is there a word for people who live in great fear over a big earthquake? Within the last year or so it's become something that really fucks with me (though partially cause i live in the top floor of a super old building in nw21st)
22
@ arenit:

Yeah, there's a word to describe people with that kind of fear, especially when they live at the top of old buildings near a fault line: Logical
23
But then, 'logical' is quickly replaced by 'foolish' after said person becomes aware of the danger and still chooses to sit right in its path, worrying about it.
24
@Arenit, Seismophobia

Seriously, you should move. Your apartment sounds like a death trap, and in that part of town, all of your community is going to be desperate or dead. How long until the Safeway, Zupans, and Whole Foods are out of food? Thirty minutes? Two hours? There’s not a lot of “ideal” places you can pick in Portland for the big one, but some places are certainly worse than others.

Do the words "Mass Casualty Situation" mean anything to you? Because those words will run through your mind constantly if you survive.
25
If the hippies have their way, we won't build the damn CRC, and when the big one hits we'll be cut off from the north the when the bridges across the Columbia collapse. Then it won't matter how close you are to Whole Foods: it will be two weeks before we get any help.

Regarding the homeless: Data please. I don't want to hear from anybody who doesn't have reliable statistics to quote. There're way too many right-wing morons who just pulled numbers out of their asses because it suits their beliefs. They're pathetic.
26
The word is 'Doomed'.

Data? How about: 'I have no money, sleep outside, eat at the mission, and wash cloths by hand in the park, with wet, soapy paper towels that I swipe from the restroom at the mall.'
27
The amazing thing is that arenit is the only one of you fucking idiots that makes any sense even though he/she is clearly a troll.
28
The nanny state needs people to buy into it not out of compassion but out of a sense of superiority over the poor sons of bitches that leech off of them. This is how it ACTUALLY works and why no one stops and says, hey maybe we should change something and really help these people. Nanny state needs dependents to legitimize self.
29
Obviously the way to help people is by refusing to acknowledge them as humans, calling them leeches, and cutting them off from all services built to assist them.

Also to cast blanket insults over anyone that votes differently from yourself.
30
@Washington - Or we could just erase the debt record and start new. Name a problem that wouldn't fix in the long run.
31
I've sworn off commenting to the sickening self-congratulatory crap that passes for discussion here. But for you, asshole, I'll make an exception: You're a cruel pathetic excuse for a human being you compassionless fuck.
