I Am Not a Homophobe

Posted by Anonymous on Mon, Jun 23, 2014 at 8:09 AM

To the "neighborhood unicorn" who left a 5-page note on my windshield:

You have no idea what I went through to remain relevant in my kids' lives when their mother divorced me. I stuck a "Kids Need Both Parents" bumper sticker to my car as a reminder to myself of what I was fighting for, and as a rally cry of sorts to other single parents struggling to remain pertinent in the upbringing of their children. I invite you to go to their website to see what they stand for (kidsneedbothparents.org).

I voted against Measure 36 in 2004, I have gay friends, and I would vote against any anti-gay ballot measure. You erred when you assumed that the "both parents" referred to on my bumper sticker means a heterosexual couple. You should really check your assumptions and try to have some facts at hand before you draw mistaken conclusions about people you just don't know.
