I didn't think I would see it, but I was sick in bed on the day it appeared on the site where I do my pirating, and I'd already watched everything of actual interest. It's been so controversial on social media, with people freaking out that it's really a portrayal of an abusive relationships disguised as BDSM, and then other people freaking out that actually there is a lot of abuse in the BDSM community, so let's not pretend that's not happening, etc.

What did I take away from the movie? It was fucking boring. Two boring, brooding, half-written (if I'm being generous - this did start as a twilight fan fic, after all) characters get together and are not compatible. Then they go their separate ways after some spanking, which was also boring.

I'm guessing that the director left out a lot of the more controversial stuff (I confess I read a passage which is supposed to be the worst in the book - it involves a tampon, but more disturbingly the repetition of the phrase "holy cow!" and it's really not remarkable for anything other than its incredibly bad writing), and that certain plot elements left unexplained probably made a lot more sense when it was a fan fic about vampires, but honestly, the end result is too fucking dull to get really riled up about.
