Just a general FYI, picking blackberries next to the road can be hazardous to your health. Not only can you easily get hit by an oblivious Uber driver, but the berries you are eating straight off the vine are covered in car exhaust particulates and dust from the road. There is also a good chance that herbicides have been sprayed on them to keep the mostly non native blackberries from overtaking the road and bike lanes.

So take it from a native, if you must pick next to a road, take them home and wash them first. You might not be able to prevent yourself from becoming the next Portland hit and run victim, but you can wash away the nasties that are hazardous to your long term health.
