This is like some weird AA meeting.
Hi, I'm anonymous, and I'm a transplant.
I'm not from Portland, I'm new to Portland.
But I didn't come to Portland because of promises of liberal utopia, and weed, and cheesy sitcoms. I didn't come because of some media buzz.
I came because it was as far (metaphorically, and nearly literally) as I could get from the situation I was in, deep in the south. I spent years pulling myself up by my bootstraps, only for him to choke me out with them (again, sometimes literally - okay, not boot straps, but you get the point). I moved neighborhoods, cities - then I could only move states.

Not all transplants are these weird yuppie assholes you all hate.
I do want to let you know that I'm in love with the spirit of Portland, even if my heart breaks to see the homeless crisis.
Hi, I'm Anonymous. And I'm a transplant.

Maybe I'll vet soon.

Let me know what I should do to avoid being an obnoxious transplant - and what things I might want to experience.
